untitled night poem
april 2026
in maze of mind i looked for you
in pleasant dreams and memory
a spirit fleeting, fearing me.
for hours on on hours i crept on through
deep bogs and twisted shores.
through blackest night and fearsome storm.
in dearth i wept, for you had left
and struct me mute and crone.
my heart left hard as stone.
i found you by a river
your slender hands in shallows
deftly saving me from gallows
till parted midst the craggly mire
entombed within twin songs of fire
to join in years so far
and few
between.
with faith that you'll come back to me.
